Shadow Eater by BlackSen Shadow Eater by BlackSen
As a child, i was only terrified of one thing.
Complete and utter darkness.
Not so much the darkness itself, but what It hid from my young eyes.

What creatures followed me patiently in the black that I would never see. what beings are silently creeping around me waiting for their chance to strike.

I slept in the same room as my brother when we were young, and we had one of those metal sliding closets that you could slide from either side and it would open. At night, its was pitch black inside. Eerily enough, even when there was moonlight, its was still near impossible to even see the brightest of clothing. Of course, to a young one, not knowing what could be lurking about, this was a huge problem!

Yeah of course, I got scared and closed it eventually at night, but that doesn't stop you from thinking "what if they're smart? What if they have hands?!" you know?

One monster in particular I unfortunately allowed myself to create and be afraid of was the Shadow Eater. Didn't really EAT shadows, but darkness just seemed to follow him around, or latch onto him, especially from his pitch black home. As my fear of this guy increased overtime, he evolved.

Around this time, I started playing Silent Hill 2 (damn you Uncle!!) and Pyramid Head was the second thing i became afraid of. lol So of course i eventually became afraid of faceless monsters. Wasnt till my teens that i realized how freaking awesome Pyramid Head was, but moving on.

I cant remember exactly how Shadow Eater looked, but I do remember he was tall and had a freaky looking skeleton for a mask...and i knew that he totally meant to do kids a world of hurt, hence the rusty exacto knife.

Some imagination huh? XD

By the way, this is my Contest Entry for the MAMA Scared Stiff contest.
Wish me luck folks! :D

This is really an incredible artwork! To be honest I have seen really scary things in my life! but this artwork that BlackSen has drawn here truly gives me the creeps! Which is good! Because I like scary movies and scary stories!

I like how this creature looks and the way it stands!

This is really creative and I believe is really Unique! The coloring is outstanding of course! But what I actually like the most is how the shadow texture of the creature looks plus the atmosphere that surrounds the room!

Even the creature's clothes makes it look scary enough as well!

Well done BlackSen!

Of course we all an instinctual fear of the dark and not knowing what is in it, it's the fear of not knowing is what causes this fear of the darkness
The monster represents what could be in the dark our imagination is our own worst nightmare creating the monsters that lurk in our closets, beds, closets, and hallways.
Our mind becomes the enemy when frighten our imaginations tortures us into think of what may happen to us when we fall to sleep until the sun comes up we feel revealed that we survived telling our selves it wasn't real....until night falls.

Even though we share the same fear of the dark, I see a different monster; Medusa, the Greek god. Eyes gone, gaping mouth, hair of snakes, and the frightening ability to turn people to stone; THOSE are the wooden logs that built the cabin of fear. And I'M living in it. I love moving around, and I can't stay still, but invite Medusa over for a staring contest, and I'll be running away in a flash.

HHHHHolllleh fuck.

THIS IS DISTURBING... ON A PERSONAL LEVEL.....

I had a nightmare two months and four days ago about this beast: it looked just like this, except his skin was always squirming from underneath and it's skin also looked burnt. It slit into my belly through my sheets and left it's claws in my opened belly. then I felt a squirming sensation under MY skin and in my wound. then I woke up howling a scream, my skin palled and my veins visible through it -- I was dying. No joke. When I was on the stretcher, I could see what was going on, but I was completely unresponsive; most of my vitals had already failed; at the hospital, I was pronounced DEAD ON ARRIVAL!!

There was one problem, however: my consciousness was still there, fully intact. And I was still able to hear (externally through my own ears, and internally with my inner monologue) and see through my own eyes. But I couldn't speak, feel or (according to the ambulance medic) show any signs of all my vitals functioning.

For fucks sake, I died. I HAD TO WILL MY ASS BACK TO A SEMBLANCE OF LIFE...

I am now getting itchy goosebumps. I hate talking about my terrorizing brush with death, but this deviation just gave me flashbacks to this horrific occurrence.

<I shudder....>
